Today, I'm an overcomer, and you can be as well! 

Personal Testimony and the Birth of DAWGs

Hello, I am Ms. Tan, serving as your Executive Director and Visionary. My journey is deeply personal—having once been a victim of domestic violence, addiction, and abuse, I have endured many hardships alone and suffered in silence. The obstacles I faced on my path to healing were numerous and challenging. I understand the pain of silent suffering, the embarrassment of remaining in abusive relationships far too long, and the sense of isolation that comes with battling depressive thoughts. My experience, much like those of other DAWG Sistas, revealed an important truth: women cannot overcome these challenges in isolation. We need support, resources, opportunities to escape, and above all, the peace that healing brings. 

There is always someone who can relate to or understand the struggles you may be experiencing or have faced. Building connections with those who care, who have walked the same path, and who have triumphed is essential for emotional, physical, and psychological well-being. On a spiritual level, my relationship with God was pivotal—without that connection, I could have lost my mind or even my life. This is the foundation upon which the vision for DAWGS was established. DAWGS are overcomers—a sisterhood devoted to helping one another. We openly share our most personal stories during mentorship sessions, conferences, and holistic gatherings, not out of obligation but out of a genuine desire to be that bridge, that connection, and that reliable Sista. It is our mission to ‘pay it forward’ and extend support to others. 

I want to see women whole.; I want to see women healed; I want to see women protected and respected; I want women to be heard and to be seen; I want to see women STRONG! I want to help women OVERCOME. YOU DO MATTER NO MATTER WHAT SOMEONE ELSE SAYS! 

One day, the plan is to collaborate with others and orchestrate an emergency rescue home—a safe haven, an escape for women and their children escaping abuse which immediately qualifies them for victim of crime services and immediate relocation without all of the red tape. Not only shelter but to give them friendship and knowledge that will last a lifetime. Relationships and mentorship that will be a crisis call and I want to see women standing on their own two feet in their own homes HOLISTICALLY HEALTHY. I want to see women off the streets, loving themselves, and building new lives free from abuse, pain, drugs and hurt. You are not alone! YOU ARE AN OVERCOMER. To live emotionally well and have peace wherever you are! That peace comes only from Jesus!
